City lights
04. November 2021
After the impressive success of the light illuminations on historic buildings in the city of Bremen last Advent, the CityInitiative is organizing "Lights of the City" for the second time. Beginning on November 4th, 2021 at 5:30 p.m., atmospheric light shows under the motto "Autumn Moments" will once again move into the living room. After that, the buildings will be illuminated daily from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. up to and including November 14, 2021.
The illuminated buildings from 2020 – the Schütting, the Chamber of Crafts, and the buildings at Herdentor/Am Wall – will be expanded this year to include the Cotton Exchange and a building on Sögestraße. These facades will be beautifully illuminated with projections by light artist Daniel Margraf. The Church of Our Lady will also participate for the first time, adorned with an artistic motif by Moritz Hoffmann. A particularly special highlight this year, however, is the Cathedral, which will be transformed into a digital-abstract artwork by Stefan Ihmig. Thanks to the sponsorship of Ihmig himself and the curator and producer of "Lights of the City," Florian Stelljes, this stunning video illumination of the Cathedral has been made possible. The light and video installations will be officially switched on at 5:45 p.m. on November 4, 2021, and will end at 11:00 p.m. on November 14, 2021. The buildings will be illuminated daily from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. “Lights of the City” is promoted by the city center action program and supported by the Bremen Cotton Exchange.
